I write professional quality back-of-the-book indexes delivered promptly within your deadline. Following your specifications, I will write a carefully structured index that is accurate to the contents of your text and efficiently guides readers to the information they seek. I index a wide range of of technical and nonfiction texts, with a particular interest in memoirs, biographies, and the fields of History, Linguistics, Literary Studies, and Philippine Studies. As a native speaker of both languages, I can prepare indexes in English and Filipino.

To index your book, I must be given the final typeset page proofs in pdf form. While the schedule for your specific index will be discussed and negotiated beforehand, I usually work for 2-3 weeks to create an index for a publication that is between 200-400 pages in length. Once finished, I will send you the initial draft in Word document form. My rate includes two working days’ worth of revisions and changes, the scope of which we will discuss upon your review of the initial draft.

My rate is calculated per project depending on a number of considerations such as page count, type of publication (trade, scholarly, official, etc.), and time allowed for completion. I charge well within industry rates.

My Index Review and Edit service is designed for authors and publishers who already have a prepared index and would like a trained indexer to review and refine it before publication.

In this service I apply best indexing practices to assess and edit your index for:

• consistency of language, style, formatting, and punctuation;

• locator accuracy and usability;

• proper use of headings, subheadings, qualifiers, and other elements;

• proper use of navigational tools like double posts and cross references;

• and more!

I will evaluate and edit all aspects of your index necessary to ensure a professional and high quality finished product.

My rate is calculated per project depending on the number of entries and time allowed for evaluation. You'll receive your edited index with Microsoft Word Track Changes, along with a detailed editorial report where I explain my recommendations for strengthening your index.
